水社柳(學名:Salix kusanoi)又名金柳、草野氏柳,为杨柳科柳属的常綠落葉性喬木,是台灣原生特有種。主要分布在台灣南投、宜蘭、屏東低海拔至1500公尺以下山區之濕地及池塘。最早是日本人草野俊助在日月潭水社部落採集到,所以以日月潭的舊名「水社海」名之為「水社柳」,同時也被稱為「草野氏柳」。水社柳由於其育地狹隘且極度稀有,野外成熟個體逐漸減少而被林務局評估為「瀕臨絕滅」(Endangered)。[1][2][3]
生長型態
水社柳植株高3~7公尺。單葉,互生,葉卵形、長橢圓形至長橢圓狀披針形,長7~12公分,寬2~3公分,基部較肥大為圓至心形,先端漸漸變細尖。雌雄異株,葇荑花序,腋生,雄花顏色黃色,雌花白色。12月至隔年2月是開花時期,雄株的花苞吐出金黃色花穗,很多黃色小花同時生長在一根花軸上,伸長的金黃色花絲相當顯眼,遠觀全株披滿金色,所以水社柳又被稱為「金柳」。秋、冬季時,葉子會掉落,植株停止生長。
