海底火山

海底火山,是大洋底部形成的火山。海底火山的分佈相當廣泛,海底火山噴發的熔岩表層在海底就被海水急速冷卻,有如擠牙膏狀,但內部仍是高熱狀態。海底火山产生的岩浆约占全年总量的75%。
绝大部分海底火山位于构造板块运动的附近区域,被称为中洋脊。尽管多数海底火山位于深海,但是也有一些位于浅水区域,在喷发时会向空中喷出物质。在海底火山附近的热气喷发口,具有丰富的生物活性。.
