History
The program premiered on August 9, 2015 on the network's Sunday Grande block and is also aired worldwide via GMA Pinoy TV.[1] It occupied the 12 noon slot, and went back-to-back with another Sunday game show, Wowowin. After gaining top-rating status in only two weeks, its competing show ASAP Natin' To started to also dish out some comedy sketch segments before eventually abandoning it on November 15, 2015 to give way to its lead-out program Banana Sundae.
When Wowowin moved to a weekday timeslot, Sunday Pinasaya had Dear Uge as its lead-out program and continued airing as a two-hour show. On March 20, 2016, the show was granted a 30-minute extension due to public demand.
On May 15, 2016, the show debuted Star Buzz, a parody of the defunct talk shows, Startalk and rival network ABS-CBN's The Buzz. The segment quickly won critical acclaim due to the effective impersonation of its cast members, particularly Jose Manalo, who impersonated then-presumptive Presidential winner Rodrigo Duterte.
On September 4, 2016, the show celebrated its first anniversary with new set and additional hosts.
On July 9, 2017, Sunday Pinasaya celebrated its second anniversary which they kicked off a month-long celebration. They also debuted a new theme song and tagline for the show: "Puso ng Saya" (Heart of Fun).
On March 25, 2018, the show added "Kambal, Karibal" lead stars Bianca Umali, Miguel Tanfelix and Kyline Alcantara to the growing number of cast members.
The show was granted another time slot extension on April 22, 2018 due to the changes on the network's Sunday Grande sa Hapon line up following the end of the primetime program "Sirkus" on April 15, 2018. As a result, "Sunday Pinasaya" became a 160-minute program, bumping off other lead-out programs (led by "Dear Uge") by 10 minutes.
When Amazing Earth premiered June 17, 2018, Sunday PinaSaya's runtime is shortened slightly to a 150-minute (2 1/2-hour) programme. This made Dear Uge extend 10 minutes more, and it returned to a 1-hour programme. As of October 7, 2018, the show was extended again by additional 15 minutes.
On November 18, 2018, the show premiered the GMA Christmas Station ID for the first time.
On February 10, 2019, the show is revamped with the new segments such as BaraBara Bae, Tom & Jonny, The Adventures of Lolo Chet, Juancho Nga, Threena Minute, Parlor Game, Dance Entertainment, Dear Sugar & Spike, Funny Pakyaw, LegitSaya and Ellen D'Generous.
