智利國旗左上角為藍色正方形（代表天空），中有白五角星（代表進步與榮譽的指引）。上方餘為白色（代表安第斯山脈），下為紅色（代表獨立所流的血）。于1817年10月18日啟用，目前的智利國旗是歷來的第三面。在西班牙语中智利国旗又被称为“孤星旗”（La Estrella Solitaria）。
根据智利史诗《阿劳加纳》的描述，国旗上的这三种颜色最早来自于马普切人在阿劳科战争中的旗帜。每年7月9日是智利的国旗日，以纪念在1882年康塞普西翁战役中牺牲的77名士兵。
设计
智利国旗的官方设计被规定在1967年内务部出版的第1534号有关国旗和国徽的最高法令中，其中包含了1912年1月11日关于国旗色彩和比例的第2597号法令。其规定如下：
