都御史為御史的一種，中國明朝、清朝官职之一。類似於古代的御史中丞。


明朝都察院的长官为左右都御史（正二品），下设副都御史、佥都御史。清朝时都御史為從一品。


女真清國崇德元年（1636年），皇太極即位後，清朝廷將監察文武百官的職責歸於都察院。


大清順治元年（1644年），清兵入關，都察院設左都御史、右都御史、左副都御史、右副都御史，負責糾察中國十五道、在京百官。


雍正元年（1723年）始，凡總督授加兵部尚書銜者，慣例兼都察院右都御史銜。不加尚書銜則一律加兵部右侍郎兼都察院右副都御史銜。
